Dear employers,
As a person who has run his own business, I want to inform you that I think it's unethical and insulting when you post false job advertisements on the Internet and in public. For instance, if you're using Indeed.com to advertise a job, and there is an easy apply option, but then you contact me saying that I need to fill out another application, then you have essentially wasted my time and abused the Indeed.com job website.
I am now actively going to find a way to get people to protest with Indeed.com against employers who are using these tactics that waste people's time. I believe Indeed.com knows about it. Sure, networking is the best way to get a job, but sometimes my network isn't really there. Regardless, the problem of induction applies: An employer can never know if an individual will be the "right" candidate for the job. Honestly, a lot of employers just have a very bad hiring process. They seem to forget that business is an art and everything a risk.
